Brief news:

After recently rejoicing over Novak Djokovic’s victory in the Wimbledon final, Jelena Djokovic is now in the middle of an online slanging battle after her husband was referred to as a “anti-vax poster boy” by a prominent tennis journalist.

Djokovic was deported from Australia before the Open in January because the federal government believed he could incite ‘anti-vaccine sentiment’ due to his refusal to get the Covid-19 vaccine.

When Djokovic won the men’s singles title at Wimbledon, Rothenberg questioned whether he would get immunized in time to play in the US Open in August.

To make it to the US in time, you still have time to get vaccinated before New York. Is that a future possibility to which you have completely closed your mind? asked Rothenberg at the press conference following the game.

Djokovic’s response was forceful and direct: ‘Yes.’

After that, Rothenberg declared on Twitter that the top-ranked Serb was a “anti-vax poster boy” who had just competed in his final Grand Slam of the year unless “swift change in US immigration law.”

After defeating Andy Murray in the Wimbledon final, Novak Djokovic (center) kisses his wife Jelena Djokovic. Jelena was upset by Rothenberg’s description of her husband and used this to start a very public online argument.

“Pardon me. Just making sure it is known that, for whatever reason, YOU designated him as the antivax spokesperson. She responded by writing, “He simply responded with HIS choice of body.

Djokovic previously stated that he would prefer to forego the opportunity to compete for medals than receive a vaccination, which Rothenberg cited as the reason why he was, in fact, a “anti-vax poster boy.”
